About Singing Sands Trail

The Singing Sands Trail is Michigan City’s segment of the regional Marquette Greenway, connecting the shores of Lake Michigan to a growing network of trails stretching from Chicago to Michigan. Once completed, this multi-phase, non-motorized trail will span approximately 9 miles through a wide variety of scenic and urban landscapes.

Designed for walking, running, biking, and wheelchair access (non-motorized use only), the trail transforms underused and industrial spaces into vibrant corridors of connectivity and recreation. This 10-foot-wide paved trail links residents and visitors to neighborhoods, parks, schools, employment centers, and natural areas, with safe and accessible routes across the city.

This greenway stands as a model of community-driven transformation. With collaboration among city departments, environmental agencies, engineers, and residents, former industrial and utility corridors have been reimagined as a safe, active, and beautiful transportation and recreation corridor for all.
